We arrived in Lima, Peru at 7 a.m. and got picked up by our lovely host/hostel owner and her husband. We drove to the hostel, and me and Kali called bunks. My mom fell asleep on the couch, but me and Kali helped Emma, our host, make traditional cornbread and South American hot chocolate. It was really good, and after we went for a walk in one of the many parks of Mira Flores (the neighbourhood we stayed in) and found a free class going on. This is what they were making...
Of course ours looked nothing like that at all, but we made out okay. I don't have photos of ours, because we didn't paint them or glue them on yet, but if you come to our house after our trip, you will most likely see the finished product. We had to watch a lot, because nobody except Emma spoke english there. It took a long time because you had to make a lot of details, but I had fun. That night we ate out with Emma and her husband Alfonso. I ate Anticuchos, a traditional dish of cooked cow heart on a stick. It tasted good, but it was really tough. We did a lot of tourist stuff and booked some buses, flights, and this even surprised me... One Direction tickets. They were only $38 bucks each, so my mom just said what the heck and bought them. The concert is in Lima when we come back there on April 27, and the next day we fly home.
We went to a few local markets to buy fruits, veggies, almonds, pecans, and my mom found some little dishes made of clay. I like the markets, except the meat part. It's really colorful and full of smells. Also, if you go looking for something in the city, there will always be a section for it. A shoe part, a handbag part, a clothing part, etc.
