In the last week, we have been to Albany, where we stayed with some of John's friends, went abalone "hunting," beachcombing, running past nude bathers, and shopping. Abalone hunting is more like goning underwater with a swiss army knife and looking under deep and not so deep rocks to cut the suction cup sort of meat of the rock. When we had gotten our fill of shells, we were about to go back to the house when John's friend says, hey, are we gonna cook some up here? So he starts pulling out cooking stoves, oil, pans, cups, lemonade, beer, and ciders out of his trunk. Unfortunately I got the bit that was dropped in the sand and washed off with beer, but oh well. After two days in Albany, we drove to Dunsborough, where my friends dad grew up (We were thinking of you Doug), and it was awesome! In between Albany and Dunsborough, we did a tree top walk in tingle trees, 40 m off the ground, and it was swinging, and awesome. We went surfing, bodyboarding, walking, shopping, tennising, snorkeling, sandboarding, and driving. Let's start with surfing. We went to lots of different beaches, and most of them were surfable, so what did we do? We sunbathed. Nah, just kidding, we surfed, like, the WHOLE time, except for when the dads pulled me, Luci, and Jan out to cover us in extremely white zincish sunscreen. Most of the time I was riding waves, the other bit I was getting taught a lesson by the waves; rashie pulled up, sand in swimsuit, water up nose, and sharp stuff cutting stomach. Good times. We also went to a beach where we couldn't surf, so we bodyboarded and sandboarded on the sand dunes. Well, more like both of them combined; Walk to the top of the dune (tiring) run, jump, and ride down on your boogie board (which is covered in candle wax), go over the sand bank and fly in to the water in to the unsafe huge waves (so fun!). There was another beach where we only snorkelled and when we were gonna leave, John told us to escape to a big rock about 200 m off shore, so we did, and we saw millions of cool fish. I forgot to bring my underwater camera out there so I haven't any photos, but I've been there, done that, and I have a memory, so I'm good. Well, shopping was not exactly my highlight, but I did get a rashie and a shirt. At the house we were staying at, there was no boredom. Oh, by the way, the swiss family has been with us the whole time. We drove for a long time, and then we finally got to the house, and compared to the other houses there, it looked like a leaf on a tree. But inside, it was like a magazine cottage sort of thing. It was huge, which was good, because there were twelve people staying there. We went for runs, and played tennis in the neighborhood. I can't possibly put in to one post what else we did, otherwise you would be there reading for days. We have made so many friends and favorited our beaches and places, but I think you've got the general idea.
Well, thanks for reading,
