This morning we left our little beach house at Matemwe, on the east coast of Zanzibar) to go snorkelling at Mnemba atoll (a coral reef). We went snorkelling with our new friends, Louis and Kit from Denmark. Again, we went in a dhow on our snorkelling tour. First we went snorkelling for a very short period because Louis, Lia, and I got stung by blue bottles (a type of jellyfish) so we went to another place that wasn't infested with jellyfish. We saw lots of trumpet fish, and a moray eel, yellow puffer fish, and a sea snake slithering on the bottom (see photo below). While we were on the boat I spotted 5 dolphins so we quicky jumped int the little boat we were pulling behind, put our masks on in ready position, and followed beside the dolphins. Then we had to jump out of the boat really quick and swim as fast as we could after the dolphins. It was fun chasing after the dolphins and seeing them underwater. They were bottle nose dolphins. I saw 10 of them underwater, including a baby but then they went to deep so we had to get back on the boat and follow them again. As we were coming back onto shore, we saw sea urchins and sea stars.
After the snorkelling tour Louis, Lia and I were playing in the pool when some cows from the local village walked through our pool area. They were thirsty. They went to a little pool of water where we wash our feet and started drinking but two of the cows thought it would be better to drink from the pool. Then one of them slipped and fell into the pool! It started swimming like crazy trying to get out. It was really funny to watch, especially at front row seats in the pool. When that show was over we decided to go swim in the ocean instead of the cow pool. The water here is so warm it feels like a bathtub.
