This past week I've been at Rottnest Island, or 'Rotto' as the Aussies call it. To get to Rotto we took a 25 minute ferry ride to get there. At Rotto there are no cars on the island so you walk and ride everywhere unless you take the hop on hop of bus. On the island there are mini rat-like kangaroos. They are called quokkas. Quokkas are marsupials just like kangaroos and koalas. They carry their babies in their pouch. Quokkas are unique to Rottnest Island.
In the morning of the 17th we went to Pinky's Beach. Pinky's was my favourite beach at Rotto because the other beaches that we went to you could mostly snorkel because there were reefs close to shore. At Pinky's you could play in the water and snorkel. After Pinky's we went to the Aqua Park which has a giant inflatable playground that floats on the water. At the Aqua Park there is a slide, a sea saw, a double sea saw, a launching pillow, a trampoline, and a climbing wall. My favourite toy was the giant slide. I also liked the launching pillow. One person would go onto the end of the pillow and the other would run and jump onto the opposite end and the person at the far end would go flying in the air. Just before we went home to Perth we got an ice cream. I got honeycomb flavour.
If I could take one thing home from Rottnest Island I would choose a quokka. They are so cute.
