Wow! I had lots of fun fishing and firefighting in one day! In the morning we went to Bella's grandparents house in Rockingham (about 30 minutes from Perth) to get ready to go fishing on a boat. On the way to the dock we stopped at the butcher to pick up some cow spleen and heart for our bait. The spleen was for the fish, Sand Whiting in particular, and the heart was for the crab traps. When we got out to sea we set the crab traps. While we waited we jumped off the boat to cool off before going back to check the traps. When we pulled the traps up there was no crabs or bait in the traps. :[ We went even further out to about 100m deep to go fishing. As soon as I dropped my line in I felt a tug and when I brought up the line there was a fish on the hook but it was too small to keep. The second time was the same - I got a tug right away, but I caught a bigger fish this time. It was about 25 cm long. The biggest fish of the day! Between all of us we caught 10 fish - 2 of them were mine. We cooked them up for dinner that night. They were okay.
After our fish dinner and a swim in the pool we went to Bella's dad's firefighting station. First he gave us a tour and showed us how everything worked when there was a fire. Then me and Lia put on the firefighting jackets, trousers, and helmets. It was hot in the uniform but even more so with the heat of Australia. He showed us the tools in the fire truck including the Jaws of Life, and then we went for a ride in the truck with the sirens on. When we got out of the truck we went to the firefighters gym and we did a workout video that they use to stay in shape.
